Services
We offer a wide range of veterinary services
to keep your companions healthy and happy!

Comprehensive Physical Examination/Consultation
Unlike many veterinary hospitals whose appointment slots are 10 to 15 minutes, our appointments are booked out every 30 minutes. In this 30 minute appointment, the doctor will get a thorough history regarding your pet's health and behavior and perform a comprehensive physical examination. Our longer appointments allow ample time to answer most (if not all) of your questions.

Surgical Services
Our surgical suite allows us to perform a variety of surgical procedures. We perform surgeries every day of the week that range from spays and neuters to exploratory abdominal surgeries and splenectomies.
All surgeries are performed with the most modern anesthetics. Monitoring of all parameters of our anesthetized patients is performed using sophisticated equipment measuring heart rate, internal temperature, and oxygen saturation of the red blood cells, as well as pulse and respiration rate.

Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG)
A continuous EKG is also employed for the safety of your pet undergoing a surgical procedure.
We provide ECG services on-site. Our veterinarians can evaluate your pet's heart in several ways. One valuable indicator of heart function is the measurement of the heart's electrical activity through means of an electrocardiogram.

Diagnostic Imaging (Radiography & Ultrasound)
Our on-site modern x-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs that aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Our diagnostic imaging capabilities provide a non-invasive way to visualize the internal organs and bones of your pet.

Our high quality x-rays enable us to diagnose conditions such as hip dysplasia, fractured bones, internal organ enlargement, and foreign body ingestion.
Endoscopy
The endoscope enables our doctors to perform a visual exam of the esophagus, stomach, upper small intestine and colon. Often times, foreign bodies which have been inhaled or ingested may be removed with the aid of the endoscope, eliminating the need for invasive surgery.

Dentistry
Our dental services include teeth cleaning, scaling, polishing, extracting and oral surgeries such as root canals and vital pulpotomies. With our digital dental x-ray unit, we are also able perform high quality intra-oral x-rays that aid in diagnosing dental disease.

In-House Laboratory
The majority of our labwork is processed through our in-clinic laboratory which allows us to receive results in a timely fashion. We are able to perform a number of tests including; serum chemistries, hematology, serology, microbiology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics such as cultures and histopathologies (biopsy analysis).

In-House Pharmacy
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, supplements, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
We have a large selection of the latest and greatest high quality supplements. We have products for healthy pets, arthritic pets, pets with cancer, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, separation anxiety and many more.
Microchipping
A microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath your pet's skin between the shoulder blades where it stays for your pet's entire life. The implantation itself is quick and easy.
Each microchip has it's own unique number. Through a national pet registry, that number will be linked to important information regarding your pet (i.e. your address, phone number etc). Most veterinarians and animal shelters have electronic scanners that read the implanted chips. Lost dogs and cats are routinely scanned for microchips. Once scanned, the national registry is called and the owner is then contacted.
Alternative Therapies
Dr. Codington has advanced training in the following modalities; Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Cold Laser Therapy, Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, Prolotherapy, Electro ShockWave Therapy.
Dietary Counseling
We encourage our clients to feed their pets high quality foods that contain human-grade ingredients. We provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We have a complete line of veterinary diets for those pets with special dietary needs.
Emergency Care
Emergency cases will always get priority. Should you have an emergency during our normal business hours, please call our office immediately. Should you have an emergency after hours, please call our main telephone number (415-897-8380) for information regarding the 2 emergency clinics in our area.
